Our son thrived at Starbreak. It was an all-in endeavor for him. He was fully alive there, whether outdoors making canals in the garden in the winter rain, learning how to walk on stilts in summer camp, or snuggling in a circle for story time in the fall.

Dan was a steady, loving teacher for our high-spirited son. Dan gave our boy lots of space to grow and learn, but was there for him to help resolve conflicts or share his latest discovery. We can’t say enough about this special place. It’s a place where kids can live fully — just as they should.

Starbreak is a magical adventure haven - a perfect place for a child to learn about themselves, their peers and the natural world. I can't imagine a better environment for early childhood learning.

Our son immediately entrusted Dan as a mentor, and has grown to cherish his time with each of the teachers. We are very excited to continue our family's journey with Starbreak through the Kindergarten year.

We are truly fortunate to have a school like Starbreak on Vashon - where young kids can learn valuable social skills in a unique environment. Where else do preschoolers get to feed goats, walk to the beach, and send twigs down a stream on the same day?

A big part of what makes Starbreak such a great school is that kids are allowed to be independent (of mind and body) while always feeling that they are in a safe, supportive environment. Our son and daughter both attended Starbreak for school and Summer Camps. They both loved it, and came out of the experience ready to meet the challenges of grade school and beyond.
